Moments of Wonder

22nd October 2025

We were lucky enough to book a last minute late Summer holiday and accidentally found the magical island of Ithaca. I highly recommend. My favourite place was a small beach with ducks and cats and goats aplenty. A cute little treehouse café with delicious gritty coffee, the most amazing ice cold Greek salad and marvelous skinny chips with the skin on. I truly thought I’d landed in paradise. Stripy fish hid in the clear water shallows with sparkling white pebbles beneath. We even met an octopus! And swam with a giant sea turtle and played with the ants, made friends with the wasps and took time for the sunsets. I was so inspired by the smiles and the nature. I hope I get to go again with fresh sketchbooks.

It’s so easy to feel those moments of wonder amid such an abundance of beauty and tranquility. Bit more of a challenge when the chores pile up and your garden’s full of stubborn weeds in the grey drizzle. But I’ve been meditating a bit and it helps me notice everything that’s happening right now. I open my ears to all the little sounds. And sometimes all I can hear is my tinnitus, but there’s something to appreciate in that too.

Wishing you peace and health this Autumn. I love the cosy sense of drawing in as we enter this soft and golden season. It seems just the right time to harvest our memories, and look through the seed catalogues to plant some new ones.
