Like a New Dawn, a New Spring is always slightly different from the last.
This year the bluebells in Stanmer woods have been especially dazzling. Shimmering blues and the lushest greenest greens. Fragrant, earthy smells under the dapple of the trees. I’ve really appreciated the soft rain showers. Sitting quietly with my big pup. Getting wet bottoms, sniffing and listening. Damp moss to gather for my spring pots too. And now of course all I want to do is paint bluebells. I have a small piece in this show but I’m hoping for a few larger bluescapes at my big London show in November.
For this NEW SPRING collection, I’ve been experimenting with vibrant colours and a slightly new framing style. I’ve always liked the very edges of my paintings but so often they remain hidden when framed. It’s like when you wear a favourite teeshirt under a big jumper and nobody gets to see it but you. At Frame Factory Brighton we’ve been working on something different, showing the edges by float mounting. It’s subtly different. I’m excited!
My big show this year is at Panter and Hall, Pall Mall and I really hope you’ll join me. You’ll need to contact the gallery direct though (for all details and early access) as they have a separate mailing list to mine. They also send worldwide.
But for now, my lovelies, I hope you enjoy the moments of distilled sunshine I’ve painted into this small collection of special paintings. With love and gratitude as ever x
